Normalizing Homelessness?

What was most alarming to our members including myself is the fact that people are living in 'storm drains'. I know God gave us strength to do many things and people have always been tough and even resilient yet to live like this in a country where opportunity seems to exist but really is not, not only saddens me but infuriates me. As a California native, we see the problem across our nation as an epidemic with much to be dealt with but a problem that can be solved. With churches, hotels, and many buildings that are not in use, some just boarded and locked up, could be serving as temporary shelters for people outdoors, but as we all can attest to, they are not.
Starlilly Community Outreach Corp, sees and feels the urgency of providing comfortable living quarters with supports that people needed way before they hit the streets. It is our members calling to assist in this area and we are indeed heeding the assignment with offering the following and more as each individual's needs are identified:
Transitional Living
Case Management
Food Pantry
Transportation
Behavioral Health Counseling
Detox from Substance Abuse
Meditation & Yoga to regain Spiritual connection within and deal with the release of Deep Rooted Trauma.
Activity Coordination
Re-entry Support into the Workforce
Financial Awareness and Literacy
Home Buying Program
Starlilly Community Outreach Corp takes account of the whole person; what's their past, and how they are now, will determine their future. We plan to be and will be a major part of the restoration of individuals here in this region.
